Do You Know What Time It Is? Wake Up Everybody!
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
This approx. 26" square quilted wall hanging was made by Af Am quilting artist, Renee Wormack-Keels. She teaches, "I am a narrative art or story quilter. Quilting has been one of the most popular forms for Black women to tell our stories, sharing injustices and the lack of equality in this country. We will never stop telling our stories. I found myself interested in quilting, once again discovering the lack of black women in an art form that has been foundational in the history of textile arts.
I will bring wall hanging to church or deliver within 15 miles of the church.

Kids: To make this family friendly, kids under 18 are $10 (listed as the spectator rate but can fully participate).

Dietary needs: A couple flavors will be meaty and others quite frequently are cheesy but may otherwise meet a variety of dietary needs. Ingredient lists will be available to peruse.

Shave as the Old Masters Did with a Straight Razor
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
If you have ever been unhappy with double-edged or electric or throw-away plastic razors you should try a straight razor. They last your lifetime and give a close shave unlike any other. The present auction consists of a tutorial in wet shaving with such a razor, and help after the auction on matters such as stropping, honing and buying such razors on the used market. I have been wet shaving since 1957. The tutorial will take place at my home in Clintonville.

In the tutorial you will shave with the razor after my preparation and instruction.

You will receive the following:
One 1950s Alconso Solingen carbon steel razor honed and ready to shave
One leather case, satin lined, to hold two such razors
One wooden-turned birchwood shaving mug with a block of slightly used Osma soap, verbena scent
One good quality 20 mm knot genuine badger shaving brush ([plus one stand for same)

You will eventually need a leather/linen strop, either gotten from e-Bay or bought new. A straight razor gives 90-100 shaves before it needs honing on a stone and I will be happy to hone it for you or show you what to get to do it yourself.

Walk with Nature
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
Come join us for an extremely relaxing nature walk (a silent walking meditation) at HighBanks Metro Park, led by Diana Smith. It is based on a concept developed in Japan and there, it is known as "Forest Bathing." The intention is not so much to walk but to "Be in Nature," to slow down, to Be with the trees or with one special tree, or perhaps you would prefer to spend some time with the babbling brook and/ or observe its residents. We will explore two locations in the park that have smooth gravel or paved surfaces with easy access and short walking distances.

We will conclude this encounter with a celebration of munchies and conversation.

Linden Bee Tree Trail
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
To inspire both youth and adults to step outdoors and connect with nature in the neighborhood, local partners have launched an innovative educational tool: the Bee Tree Trails. Designed for mobile phone use, these interactive trails allows users to follow a mapped route where their location updates in real time. Along the walk, participants can tap on highlighted Ohio native trees identified along the trail to learn interesting facts about the native bees and pollinators each tree supports.

The Linden Bee Tree Trail also guides visitors through several community green spaces and community projects, including:

* The Connecting Community Corridor for People, Pollinators, and the Planet (CCC for PPP) native plant gardens
* A vibrant public art mural featuring the endangered Rusty-Patched Bumble Bee
* Sunny Glen Garden’s educational demonstration urban food forest and wildlife habitat converted from all lawn
* A connector to the ½-mile Nature’s Grace Storybook Trail at the Urban Farm Church site

The Virtual Bee Tree Trail blends outdoor exploration with accessible education, helping residents discover the essential relationship between native plants, pollinators, and healthy ecosystems in the Linden neighborhood.

There are a few options or combination of options with different trail lengths/tours:

1) 10 am - 11 am - We will start at the Sunny Glen Garden, get linked to the Linden Bee Tree Trail on our phones, and walk south to three CCC for PPP gardens, art mural, and back to Sunny Glen Garden (approximately 1 mile round trip).

2) 11 am - 12 pm - Sunny Glen Garden Tour of Food Forest of Trees for Bees, USDA Sustainable Research & Education trial beds, the hugelkultur spiral herb garden.

3) 12 pm - 1 pm pm From Sunny Glen Garden, we will walk the Linden Bee Tree Trail north to the Urban Farm Church (approx 1.6 miles round trip back to Sunny Glen Garden. At the Urban Farm Church, you can walk an additional 1/2 mile along Nature's Grace Storybook Trail (woodchip pathway) before heading back to Sunny Glen Garden or just return straight to Sunny Glen Garden to your vehicle.

A Poetry Reading You Can't Refuse
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
You can have a lively literary salon in your own home for you and your guests on a date of your choosing. Steve Abbott, sometimes (amusingly, to him) called "The Godfather of Columbus poetry" and a founding member of The Poetry Forum, which was among the longest-running poetry series in the country (39 years), will provide a reading from his two full-length books and five smaller collections, along with newer works, which include thoughtful/scathing political commentary. If you like, he'll also present selections from the work of your favorite poet/s if notified in advance.

Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
Come to my condo on the river for brunch, and to watch a panoramic view of birds coming to the feeders. I'll have a variety of sandwiches and salads, and some sweet baked goods to choose from.
By this time in June I usually have Baltimore Orioles and Catbirds, in addition to the Finches, Chickadees, Cardinals, Bluejays, Hummingbirds, Woodpeckers and the occasional Tufted Titmouse and Nuthatch. Bring binoculars or a camera if you'd like.

Take a Break from the "Big Waves" and Enjoy a Relaxing Day at Lake Erie Beaches
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
Are the "waves" in your life overwhelming? Need a little down time to just enjoy the gentle lapping sounds of Lake Erie as it stirs on the beach? Join us for a relaxing day searching for "treasures" on the shores of Lake Erie. You may find beautiful rocks or beach glass, intriguing pieces of driftwood, or interesting bits of urbanite. What is urbanite, you ask? Join us and find out. We will provide the tools and knowledge you need to locate these treasures. We will also provide a picnic lunch. The pace will be set by the group; we can stay at one beach or explore several. We can even stop at Grandpa's Cheese Barn on the way up to buy snacks. As an Eco Justice component, we will also provide trash bags to help clean up any beaches we visit. This will be a full day, carpooling from the church at 8 am and returning by 6 pm. (If people want to stay longer, we will be glad to, but dinner will be on your own.) 6 25 3 .00025E7 25 6/13/26 8:00 AM N N N N
