Linden Bee Tree Trail
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
To inspire both youth and adults to step outdoors and connect with nature in the neighborhood, local partners have launched an innovative educational tool: the Bee Tree Trails. Designed for mobile phone use, these interactive trails allows users to follow a mapped route where their location updates in real time. Along the walk, participants can tap on highlighted Ohio native trees identified along the trail to learn interesting facts about the native bees and pollinators each tree supports.

The Linden Bee Tree Trail also guides visitors through several community green spaces and community projects, including:

* The Connecting Community Corridor for People, Pollinators, and the Planet (CCC for PPP) native plant gardens
* A vibrant public art mural featuring the endangered Rusty-Patched Bumble Bee
* Sunny Glen Garden’s educational demonstration urban food forest and wildlife habitat converted from all lawn
* A connector to the ½-mile Nature’s Grace Storybook Trail at the Urban Farm Church site

The Virtual Bee Tree Trail blends outdoor exploration with accessible education, helping residents discover the essential relationship between native plants, pollinators, and healthy ecosystems in the Linden neighborhood.

There are a few options or combination of options with different trail lengths/tours:

1) 10 am - 11 am - We will start at the Sunny Glen Garden, get linked to the Linden Bee Tree Trail on our phones, and walk south to three CCC for PPP gardens, art mural, and back to Sunny Glen Garden (approximately 1 mile round trip).

2) 11 am - 12 pm - Sunny Glen Garden Tour of Food Forest of Trees for Bees, USDA Sustainable Research & Education trial beds, the hugelkultur spiral herb garden.

3) 12 pm - 1 pm pm From Sunny Glen Garden, we will walk the Linden Bee Tree Trail north to the Urban Farm Church (approx 1.6 miles round trip back to Sunny Glen Garden. At the Urban Farm Church, you can walk an additional 1/2 mile along Nature's Grace Storybook Trail (woodchip pathway) before heading back to Sunny Glen Garden or just return straight to Sunny Glen Garden to your vehicle.

Vintage Hudson's Bay Point Blanket
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
The Cadillac of wool blankets, Hudson’s Bay blankets were made in North America from 1780 until their recent bankruptcy and closure just this past year (see https://thecavenderdiary.com/2013/01/11/the-history-of-the-hudsons-bay-point-blanket/ for a brief history). This particular blanket is at least 70 years old and is in excellent condition, handed down from my parents. I did hand stitch the top and bottom edges a few years ago when they began to ravel a bit, but it is otherwise intact and clean. This blanket measures 68 x 86 inches, perfect for a double bed; we also used it on our queen-size bed for many years, but alas it does not work at all on our new king bed, so we are reluctantly parting with it. An identical blanket, pink stripe with four points but with noticeable damage, is currently listed on eBay for $375. You can’t beat this deal and you will be toasty all winter. 1 1 .0005E7 50 N N N

We'll end the evening with a dessert of passionfruit mousse in our living room where Jim will play a few of his best photos from those trips on the TV. 6 6 .00025E7 25 3/20/26 6:00 PM N N N
