Auto Service up to $100
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
Village Auto Care is in the heart of Clintonville, next door to Smith's Deli. Tim and his mechanic Casey run a tight ship with great service, honest assessments and even a little fun thrown in (per Tim, they "fix cars, trucks and broken hearts")! Typical experience is that you come to them with an estimate from another facility, and they either do the work for less, or explain exactly what is needed, and why! Can't recommend them highly enough (longtime customer Kitty Jones). 1 1 75 N N N

Fabulous Tour of the Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson Exhibit (was 8/23/20)
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
Join me, an experienced docent, on a tour of this great exhibition sampling the works of the world renowned Columbus artist, Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson (1940-2015). This survey of her work is a reflection of the vast estate that was bequeathed to the Columbus Museum of Art.
In "Raggin’ On: Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson’s House and Journals" Aminah combines traditional art materials with found objects and everyday materials such as buttons, cloth, leather, twigs, shells, and music box workings to create magical two- and three-dimensional works of art. This promises to be a fun exhibit to tour together! The tour will take approximately one hour after which you will be able to visit on your own. This tour is offered again on September 20.

On the first warm rainy night in the spring, hundreds of salamanders leave the woods and crawl to the nearest vernal pool for the BIG NIGHT. It's the only time of the year when they mate. And you/we want to be there! We can do that by watching the weather. The weather needs to be at least in the mid-40s with overnight rain showers. When this happens, I will call everyone and we will meet at Spruce Run Environmental Study Center (https://goo.gl/maps/aX8oR12RHTPU47x68) for the party!

Lake House Retreat for UU Women Who Like Book Groups & Hanging Out! (was 10/16)
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
Come deepen your connection with other UU women at Chippewa Lake. We can collectively decide a book (I’m thinking of a biography) to discuss. But don’t forget to relax, eat, drink, swim, kayak, cycle, walk, watch videos, play cards, color mandalas, visit an antique store, a second-hand shop, or the lovely gardens of the community.

Previous years’ experiences have made it clear that it will not be hard for us to find lots of meaningful connections. How often do we really get to talk?

Nancy will arrive Friday, and two nights are included if you want to come then. There is a friendly local bar/restaurant where we can unwind and people watch. Or come Saturday if you don’t want to hurry. There will be lunch, dinner, and breakfast. And any/all activities as above mentioned. Leave Sunday for church or be as lazy as you wish.

Plenty of beds, parking, all you need other than personal stuff.

Fennel, arugula, eggplant, gorgonzola, fresh mozarella, pesto, roasted garlic, olive tapenade, caramelized pears, mascarpone (just to name a few ingredients -- I may try to sneak in a few anchovies)! This dinner is lots of fun. Save room for dessert. Plan on a long evening and wear something expandable! 8 0 30 N N N

Have fun with our favorite games, one requiring some silliness, a bit of blarney, and perhaps the joyful experience of demonstrating some cross cultural literacy you had not realized was there! In "Wise and Otherwise" the object is to correctly identify a world proverb or to make one up that the group believes is genuine.
Plenty of food and drink to support the cause at the Raferts' house.

Great to play chess with, or as "atmosphere" in your den or family room.

In "Raggin’ On: Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson’s House and Journals" Aminah combines traditional art materials with found objects and everyday materials such as buttons, cloth, leather, twigs, shells, and music box workings to create magical two- and three-dimensional works of art. This sport is like a road rally in the forest. You are given a detailed topographic map (and maybe a compass) with several control points indicated. You follow the map, reaching all the control points, in order, going as fast or as slow as you like.

I have experience teaching Orienteering from my Boy Scout days. Our local O-club presents several O-meets a year, giving elementary instruction beforehand. I would like to take you to one where we will have some instruction before we hit the trails. After the O-meet we will find a place to eat and compare notes. I will cover any entrance fees and the lunch afterward.

There are many O-meets on the schedule so we'll arrange a time that all of us can go.

See you on the trail.

Enjoy a light summer dinner of delicious shrimp scampi, pasta primavera with fresh summer veggies, and with key lime pie for dessert. Delicious food and interesting conversation. The best part is that Bob and Judy will match your donation with a contribution to support the family from Honduras that Just North is sheltering. Maria, Juan, toddler and infant are seeking to make Columbus their home. They had steady jobs and a home they loved. But they faced credible death threats which forced them to flee suddenly, leaving everything. They walked more than 90 days from Honduras to Mexico and waited months to cross the border through a legal port of entry. Maria gave birth shortly after entering the country. Forty-eight hours later they boarded a hot, crowded bus. When they reached Columbus they had nowhere to turn. Their case for legal Asylum is strong but they need support for counsel, application fees and daily living until they secure a legal work permit and a home of their own. 8 0 25 8/29/20 6:30 PM N N N
